In house technology development focuses on high precision molded and metal parts for active O-E modules, novel connector designs, fiber management flexible circuits and improved tools for fiber termination and cleaning. The base of these skills is over 15 years of experience in materials, mold design, and nanometer scale metrology used in molding millions of MT-style ferrules for demanding requirements, such as up to 100 fibers or for low insertion loss.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - Hickory, NC
Investigate and develop new applications for both US Conec technology and products that US Conec can buy for resale. Define new products and steps to develop significant potential sales with existing or new major accounts. For new applications develop sales channel strategy and new company capabilities, and establish key relationships including standards activity to maximize sales and profitability.
- Achieve budgeted sales/margin for all products and assigned accounts
- Manage expenses within budget
- Develop long term preferred customer and supplier relationships to establish US Conec leadership in targeted technology/application areas
- Promote ongoing relationships between major accounts and US Conec at all levels of the customer’s organization
- Identify preferred customers in targeted systems application areas. Create preference for US Conec products over competitors and establish US Conec as a relevant source of technical knowledge for new applications
- Provide input for preparation of annual and long term business plans.
- Establish product development priorities with input from product managers and development manager.
- Act as an information source to product Management and development regarding customer requirements and emerging new applications. Provide application description, technical requirements for products, potential volumes, ASP’s, and timing requirements. Analyze new opportunities for value and match with company competencies
- Coordinate and establish the production/QA for new products with manufacturing and key suppliers including shareholder suppliers
- Provide regular summaries of key program status to President and Product Managers
- Maintain a high knowledge level in the following areas & applications: multifiber connectors, connector cleaners, optical fiber & cable, FTTH, private network architectures ( e.g. SAN, LAN, servers, routers, switches), optics modules and interconnect standards for T/R, connectors, and waveguides
Initiate, coordinate, and manage new and/or existing programs to maximize sales and profit for the company. For example FTTH products, optics modules and connectors for emerging markets.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in engineering – MBA a plus
3-5 years sales, engineering or product management experience in the photonics industry.
Knowledge of optical waveguides/ cable, connectors, and system interconnect architectures and components preferred
Advanced PC skills with standard MS Office software: Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as verbal and written communications skills
Self-motivated, able to succeed with several projects at once
Work well under pressure
Possess leadership skills
Strong presentation skills
Travel required
