In house technology development focuses on high precision molded and metal parts for active O-E modules, novel connector designs, fiber management flexible circuits and improved tools for fiber termination and cleaning. The base of these skills is over 15 years of experience in materials, mold design, and nanometer scale metrology used in molding millions of MT-style ferrules for demanding requirements, such as up to 100 fibers or for low insertion loss.
Product Specialist, Hickory, NC
The purpose of this position is to assist the product manager in planning, implementing, and managing assigned US Conec product line plans, including sales channels, development & manufacturing priorities, pricing strategies, and promotional planning.
• Provide day-to-day and long term project support to product managers.
• Act as the primary product data steward. Maintain high level of competency with US Conec ERP system.
• Interface with customers in support of specific product strategies and/or in support of sales. Respond to technical and commercial issues on ferrules, connectors, and related items.
• Maintain a high knowledge level of the following areas & applications: multifiber connectors, optical fiber & cable, optical transceivers, optical module & PCB products, private & public network architectures.
• Represent product management during development, manufacturing, or other functional group meetings as required.
• Represent product management during customer meetings as required.
• Perform market analyses and maintain competitive position information.
• Assist with development, planning and implementation of US Conec product plans.
• Recognize new product opportunities and report to marketing with information about applications, potential volumes, ASP’s, and timing requirements
• Coordinate the analysis and resolution of product-related field performance issues.
• Assist with trade shows, website content, and other advertising/promotional activities.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Technical or engineering a plus.
• 1-3 years commercial experience (fiber optic industry preferred)
• Knowledge of fiber optic cable, connectors and hardware products preferred
• Advanced PC skills with standard MS Office software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent interpersonal skills, as well, as verbal and written communications skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Some travel required
